Bats
#1
Spring is here - the colony of bats which have been hibernating in one of the outbuildings were flying about tonight. It really has been a spectacular day <img src='http://poultrychat.com/oldforumIcons/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

We used to have literally hundreds of bats flying around but we hardly see any now. We used to sit outside and watch them all flying out of their roost, an amazing sight. Luckily there is still a roost in the church.
It never worries me when I get a little lost, all I do is change where I'm going

I love watching bats

really fascinates me how fast they can fly,

we used to have some that roosted it a huge 40'+ evergreen at our last house.

I would go out at dusk and stand in the orchard watching them... happy days <img src='http://poultrychat.com/oldforumIcons/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

What breed of bats do you have? We've got Serotines.

Wow that seems very early - or perhaps it is just that I have never noticed them around at this time of year. I bought hubby a bat detecter quite a few years ago and now we stand outside just listening to the clicks from the detecter and are happy even though we can't see them - sad - if, at the age of 20 say, I thought I would be up to this sort of caper I would have shot myself (I'm a born townie but now converted to the countryside) but I love everything country now - apart from fox hunting etc.
