Are they good layers ? and do you plan on hatching any.  Smile

They are not prolific layers Zenith but they are lovely eggs.
If one goes broody i may let her sit. I had one very broody the other week,i had weal marks all over the back of my hand and up my arm from her !!
When MrK9 went for the eggs he went armed with a piece of wood to fend her off laugh I didnt let her sit as i hadnt had Daz very long so they wouldnt have been fertile.

I was reading up on them and they have long claws and protect their eggs and young well. I also read they take longer to hatch than other ducks 35 days. They make good meat birds too, so the article stated.

Where i went on Sunday said that you get a lot of meat off them. They eat surplus drakes, they dont bother to pluck them they skin them.
Not sure i could do that.
Yes they have claws as they do perch, i have a nasty gash on one arm where one got me when i was wing clipping.Very strong hefty birds.
They are weirdly pretty with their facial furnishings, great characters.

well,5 more arrived last night. Mum and 4 ducklings.
The chap has lost his land and so many many ducks and hens are squashed into his back garden.I hope he manages to sell them quickly as his garden is lovely but it wont be for long!!! I was very tempted with a trio of cayuga ducks but dont want cross breeding and a third drake maybe pushing it.
